Best Dental Implants Huntington Beach, ca

Are you hesitant to smile because of missing teeth? Do you worry about bone loss resulting from tooth loss? If so, dental implants are the perfect restorative dentistry solution for missing teeth. At TLC Family Dentistry in Huntington Beach, board-certified implant specialist Dr. Navid Nobahar specializes in high-quality dental implant procedures that are designed to restore the proper function and original beauty of your smile.

What are dental implants?

As a modern and more reliable way to replace one or more missing teeth, a dental implant is essentially a lifelike artificial tooth that Dr. Navid places, or implants, into your jaw. Once the implant (artificial tooth root) is ready, it is then capped with a dental crown by Dr. Basti, creating a completely new tooth that looks, feels, and functions just like a real tooth.

Dental implants are an ideal replacement for:

  • A single tooth
  • Multiple teeth
  • All of your teeth (full mouth dental implants)

The benefits of dental implants include:

More versatile than traditional tooth replacement options (bridges, dentures, etc.)

Dental implants represent a more versatile way to replace teeth than bridges and dentures. Unlike traditional tooth replacement options, dental implants can replace a single tooth or a complete set of teeth, unlike bridges and dentures.

Dental implants can even support bridges and dentures, making them more secure and stable. When used in tandem with dentures, dental implants allow the dentures to click in and out of position for easy insertion and removal.

More comfortable and convenient than loose or ill-fitting dentures

Dental implants are embedded directly into the jawbone to stimulate bone growth, providing increased strength and support to the prosthetic. The jawbone slowly grows around the rod, holding it firmly in place after the healing process. This tight fit gives dental implants the feel of natural teeth.

Dental implants do away with the hassle and discomfort of loose or ill-fitting dentures by providing added stability.

Don’t cause speech impediments

A few missing teeth may prevent your mouth from forming certain sounds when you speak, resulting in various speech impediments. Dentures can sometimes slide when you talk, causing lisps or slurs. Implants solve this problem by filling the gaps created by missing teeth. The implants provide a solid surface for the tongue to press against, making speech much easier.

For more severe cases, deeply rooted implants hold implant-supported dentures firmly in place, preventing them from sliding. This added security helps you speak without the fear of your dentures slipping out of position.

Able to chew all types of foods

Missing teeth, especially molars, can cause major problems when patients chew different types of food. Dental implants solve this problem by filling in the gaps left by missing teeth, making the chewing process much easier.

Implant-supported dentures also solve this problem better than conventional dentures because they remain firmly held in place.

Exceptional durability and longevity (15 years or more)

Dental implants possess excellent durability. Replacements may not become necessary after 15 years or more. In addition, proper oral hygiene extends the life of your dental implants, ensuring they serve you well for years. In some cases, dental implants can last for the remainder of a patient’s lifetime.

Require minimal care and maintenance

Dental implants require no extra maintenance beyond regular brushing, flossing, and semi-annual checkups with a dentist. A proper oral hygiene regimen will serve to extend the expected lifespan of a dental crown.

Enhanced oral health

Dental implants remain anchored to the jaw, holding them steady in a similar manner to natural teeth. This stability protects the remaining teeth from damage. It also prevents the implants from coming loose and creating a negative impact on your teeth. Ensuring that your healthy existing teeth remain in good condition represents an excellent way to maintain your overall health.

Natural-looking

Modern dental implants resemble natural teeth and eliminate any fear of someone noticing that you have missing teeth. Because they are customized to fit the needs of each patient, dental implants blend perfectly with your existing teeth.

Some other benefits are:

  • Help prevent bone loss
  • Look, feel, and perform like real teeth (self-confidence booster)

What to expect during a dental implant procedure

During your consultation, Dr. Navid will discuss all your treatment options. If you are a candidate for a dental implant restoration, this is what you can expect:

  1. Based on your examination, Dr. Navid will do a computer-aided treatment simulation to

determine where the implants should be placed for optimal support and comfort.

  1. During a follow-up appointment, he will perform surgery under local anesthesia to place the implants. If an additional procedure such as a tooth extraction or bone shaping is needed, Dr. Navid will perform those procedures before placing your implants. Once in place, your implants will then be fitted with temporary teeth so they can fuse with your jawbone (osseointegration).
  2. During a 6- to 12-week healing period, you will need to avoid eating hard or chewy foods that might damage your new implants.
  3. Once the process of osseointegration is finished (approximately 3 months), Dr. Basti will remove your temporary teeth and attach permanent replacement teeth to your implants.
  4. Before leaving our office, a member of our team will provide you with aftercare instructions. You will also be asked to schedule a 6-month follow-up appointment with Dr. Basti so that she can monitor your progress and reevaluate your implants.
  5. Dental implant surgery recovery times vary depending upon the type and number of implants you received. In general, your recovery should be relatively quick with minimal discomfort.

At TLC Family Dentistry, we also offer “same-day” dental implant treatments, including All-on-4 dental implants. Contact us today to learn more about our dental implant options!

Affordable dental implants

Although it’s true that dental implants cost slightly more than traditional tooth-replacement options, implants are a very cost-effective treatment alternative for reasons like comfort, durability, aesthetics, and convenience. Even better, your dental implants should last for 15 years or more!

Some patients choose get dental implants in done by a general dentist simply because they cost less. As opposed to a board-certified periodontist like Dr. Navid, many dentists don’t have the extensive training and knowledge to make sure your implants are done correctly.
