All-on-4 in Huntington Beach
At TLC Family Dentistry, we realize that every patient is unique. That’s why we offer several different types of dental implants, including All-on-4. Also called “implant-supported dentures” or “teeth in a day”, All-on-4 dental implants allow Dr. Navid to fully reconstruct your arch using only four to six implants instead of eight. As an advanced restorative dentistry solution, All-on-4 dental implants are a prompt, reliable, and affordable way to replace multiple missing teeth.
What is All-on-4?
Unlike conventional dental implants that require separate screws for each artificial tooth, All-on-4 implants can support an entire arch of replacement teeth (bridge) with as few as four implants. As both a time- and cost-saving alternative, an All-on-4 procedure offers the perfect balance between having sufficient bone to support the artificial root and stabilizing the replacement tooth.
During an All-on-4 implant procedure, Dr. Navid places two implants (artificial roots) in the front of the mouth and two in the back. Once in place, those four implants create a firm foundation upon which she can attach your artificial teeth (overdenture). As a newer type of same-day dental implants, the implant, abutment, and temporary set of teeth are all completed during a single office visit.
If you are wondering “What are All-on-4 vs. All-on-6 dental implants?”, that’s a great question. When a patient has good bone density, Dr. Navid typically places six implants (All-on-6) instead of four– resulting in even better stability for supporting a full-arch bridge restoration.
Why are All-on-4 implants a good choice?
Fewer implants are sometimes better when there’s not enough healthy bone in front of your sinuses. When implants are placed in your lower jaw, there’s a long nerve that can get in the way. Using four to six implants allows Dr. Navid to bypass those placement issues. As an added benefit, a dental professional can also remove All-on-4 implants for routine cleaning and maintenance purposes.
All-on-4 dental implants offer these advantages over traditional dentures:
- Minimal disruptions to active lifestyles
- Can be cleaned and brushed like real teeth
- Look, feel, and perform like real teeth while smiling, speaking, or chewing
- Last for 15+ years with proper oral hygiene, checkups, and maintenance
- Help prevent bone loss
- No need for messy adhesives
- Don’t have to be removed while sleeping
However, All-on-4 dental implants are not right for everyone. The best way to find out if you are a candidate is by scheduling a consultation with Dr. Navid. If an All-on-4 dental implant procedure is right for you, he will provide you with more details about what to expect during your treatment timeline.
All-on-4 cost
Several factors influence the cost of All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implants, including the placement and whether any additional surgical procedures are needed (bone shaping, tooth extraction, etc.). On average, the cost for a single arch of implant-supported replacement teeth can range from $10,000 to $20,000 or more.
However, that amount is much less than you might have to pay for a more traditional arch-reconstruction treatment. And although removable dentures cost less, they cannot duplicate the overall comfort, durability, convenience, and oral health benefits of dental implants.
Are they the only choice?
All-on-4 dental implants are not right for everyone, including patients with severe periodontal disease, heavy tobacco smokers, and those with advanced problems caused by bone recession.
Other contraindications for an All-on-4 procedure include radiation therapy within the past five years and uncontrolled diabetes. If you are not a candidate for All-on-4 dental implants, Dr. Navid can recommend another type of dental implant or more traditional restorative treatment.
